Instrument

Students are required to be able to practise regularly on an acoustic instrument (vertical or grand piano). Students who practise on electronic keyboards soon develop stiffness in their wrists and upper bodies, and are not able to develop pianistic technique, artistic nuance or beautiful tone.

Instruments can be rented or purchased from Winston Music or Brighton Pianos. It is important that the piano is tuned and maintained regularly by a registered piano tuner/technician.

It is important that the piano bench is adjustable to the correct height for your child. Young students may also require a foot stool so that their feet will not swing freely. Having their feet on a solid surface allows students to sit with good posture and supports the movement of the upper body.
